Part Time Teller - Southgate

Role:

To assist members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; sells money orders and travelers checks to members; transfers amounts from member accounts as directed.  Post transactions to member accounts and maintain member records.
  • Welcomes members and provides routine information concerning services and directs members to appropriate department for specific information and service.  Cross sells credit union services.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

  • To provide friendly, professional, personal service to all members.
  • To handle at least 150 transactions per day.
  • To have no more than one posting error per month.
  • Must be in compliance with policy 5.24 Over/Short.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience:  Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
  • Education:  A high school education or GED.
  • Interpersonal Skills:  Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.  Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
  • Other Skills:
    • Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Detail oriented and accurate to prove cash at end of day and avoid errors on member accounts.
    • Above average math skills.
    • Proven track record of strong member service skills. Diplomacy.
    • Professionalism in appearance, dress and attitude is a must.

Full Time Teller - Lincoln Way

Role:

Assistant Branch Manager - West Des Moines

Role:

Assist the branch manager with the overall operation of the branch.  Supports the delivery of credit union products and services consistent with the financial, operational and growth related strategic plans.  Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all tellers and MSR staff in the branch, including training of staff under his/her supervision.  Exceeds member expectations by ensuring the highest standards of service are provided to all members.  Assumes responsibility for the branch in the managers absence.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists branch manager and subordinate staff with routine daily operations, including inquiries, questions, and/or problem resolution.  Supports branch operations by exhibiting a working knowledge of member services, depository, and lending functions.   Monitor work of branch staff to ensure the highest level of service and accuracy are provided.
  • Serves as a liaison for organizational projects and assists in the execution and implementation of divisional projects.  Promotes new loan and deposit products and services to achieve operational and strategic growth strategies.  Facilitates a service and sales oriented environment by building and maintaining member relationships.
  • Serves as the primary contact for IRA related products and services.  Understands IRA regulations and assists members in establishing IRA accounts.
  • Ensures credit union policies and procedures are compliant with state and federal regulations affecting consumer credit and depository functions.  Responsible for conducting random monthly account audits.  Makes error resolution recommendations to branch manager.
  • Reviews monthly closed account files and prepares requested reports.  Maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures, trends, and standards in the credit union industry.
  • Participate in community events to increase awareness of the credit union.  Foster a referral network by building relationships with the membership, segmented employee groups, peers, and various community organizations and affiliations.   
  • Assist with the interviewing and selection process.  Provide input to performance evaluations, personnel actions, and performance management.  Assists with and participates in training of new personnel.  Schedules and adjusts work hours to ensure coverage levels are adequate for providing proper service to the members.
  • Conducts periodic staff meetings to discuss essential communication items, changes or enhancements, policy and procedure updates and other performance related areas needing improvement.  Fosters effective employee relations and maintains a highly motivated staff.
  • Serves as a backup to all member service positions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mortgage Loan Originator - West Des Moines

Role:

Responsible for originating prime, sub-prime, secondary market, and open and closed ended residential real estate mortgages within the field of membership.  Interview and recommend approval or denial based on analysis.  Issue appropriate and accurate compliance documents.  Price loans according to credit union standards.  Foster relationships with members, potential members, realtors and vendors to build referral applicant pipeline.  Represents the credit union at community events and activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop mortgage loan business through contact with community realtors, builders and contractors, borrowers, and other institutions.  Responsible for generating real estate loans to meet the lending goals and objectives of the credit union.  Handle mortgage loans of highest complexity, value, and risk. 
  • Interview applicants to determine and recommend the best loan product to fit their needs.  Pre-qualify prospective borrowers and inform them of loan options, market conditions, and necessary documentation to close a potential loan.  Provide information and promote credit union products and services to members.  Identify ancillary product sales opportunities.
  • Attends all first time homebuyer closings and other purchase closing as required.  Maintain and foster a relationship with members for potential real estate and other loan product referrals.
  • Support the processing and preparation of the loan for closing by exhibiting knowledge of state and federal regulations governing real estate transactions.  Provide expertise support to loan resolution matters.
  • Assist in the review of guidelines, programs, and updates or changes to the credit union's mortgage policies and procedures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Expectations:

  • Produce real estate loan volume as specified by departmental supervisor.
  • Develop additional secondary markets for sales and promote alternative for real estate lending programs. 
  • Ensure all approved real estate loans comply with established credit union policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.
  • Build and maintain quality member, realtor, and contractor relationships. 
  • Meets department standards of excellence and acts as a role model for the credit union service standards.
  • Display professionalism in appearance and daily demeanor.
  • Attends all required meetings and completes all required assignments/projects in the time frame specified by authorized individuals.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience:  Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education:  A two year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • Interpersonal Skills:  The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.  Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
  • Other Skills:
    • Working knowledge and experience with prime, sub-prime, and secondary market residential real estate lending.    
    • Proven track record in selling and servicing real estate loans.
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of federal lending regulations governing residential real estate lending including government, covenantal, and sub-prime programs. 
    • Ability to present information with diplomacy and tact.
    • Display interpersonal, networking, and relationship building skills.   
    • Working knowledge of AUS, standard, conventional, and Alt A underwriting guidelines.   
    • Excellent math and analytical abilities. 
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment. 
    • Ability to lift, move, or transfer items, materials, or product up to 25 lbs.
