Greater Iowa Credit Union, of Ames, has been named "Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist" by the Story County Alliance for Philanthropy.
The award is given to for outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles in philanthropy and community involvement. Greater Iowa was nominated by the Volunteer Center of Story County and the United Way of Story County.
"It's gratifying to be recognized for something that is in our DNA," said Greater Iowa President/CEO Shazia Manus. "Greater Iowa takes its culture of volunteerism and community centrism very seriously. It's what drives us and ignites our hearts and soul."
Through its Corporate Giving and Educational Partnership Committee, Greater Iowa Credit Union has structured a philanthropic program that is far-reaching and generous, benefitting United Way of Story County, Volunteer Center for Story County, Bethesda Food Pantry, Iowa State Center, Ames High School Athletics, Octagon Center for the Arts and the Ames-ISU YWCA. Greater Iowa Credit Union recently gave a gift to the ISU Foundation to establish a lectureship at the College of Business. Greater Iowa Credit Union also encourages their employees to be actively involved in volunteering in the community.
