Using your Credit Card internationally

Preparation is key when it comes to traveling with credit cards.

Before you go
Please contact Greater Iowa's member services department at 1.800.296.9064 to let us know you will be traveling. The main concern is our process of detecting fraud; an international charge can easily look suspicious and the card would be declined. In addition, it is a good opportunity to take note of the current international transaction fee and the international number to call if your card is lost or stolen. To report your card lost or stolen outside of the United States, call collect to 727.299.2449.
Current International Transaction Fee 1% of purchase
Foreign Transactions
Purchases and cash advances made in foreign currencies will be debited from your account in U.S. dollars. The exchange rate between the transaction currency and the billing currency used for processing international transactions is a rate selected by Visa from a range of rates available on the applicable central processing date. The exchange rate used on the processing date may differ from the rate that would have been used on the purchase date or the cardholder statement posting date.
