Greater Iowa Remote Deposit

Remote Deposit enables members to deposit checks into their credit union accounts using a mobile phone or a home scanner.

The service is free to members, however enrollment in the service includes several requirements:

  • Active members for a minimum of 30 days
  • Have a checking account
  • Use a debit card

Enrollment in the service is easy.
Depending on the type of phone, Android or Apple, and simply search for Greater Iowa Remote Deposit, then install the app like any other. Once installed, click on the app, and you will be asked to sign up, agree to terms, and register your account. Once that information is submitted, you will be informed by message that the service is up and running. This may take a day or two.

Then, the next time you click on the app and Login with username and password, click on “deposit.” This will activate the phone or scanner’s camera. Make sure you endorse the check and write the words "remote deposit" below your endorsement. Take a picture of the front of the check and the back of the check. Hit submit. The app will inform you if you have successfully submitted your check for review. Within one business day, you may verify that your deposit was accepted.

Fund Availability:
If the deposit is made before 4 p.m., funds will be available the next business day at credit union opening. If the deposit is made after 4 p.m., funds will be available at the start of the second business day. You should keep the check for at least 10 days to insure that the deposit was successful. Once you learn it is successful, you can keep or destroy, depending on your personal wishes. You do not have to deposit the paper check.

Deposit Restrictions:
Greater Iowa Remote Deposit will allow for 25 deposits each day. Single check amounts are limited up to $5,000 per item, with a maximum amount of up to $10,000 in remote deposits per day. In addition, there is a $100,000 rolling limit during a 30 day period.
