Greater Iowa donates to international support group

    July 5, 2011

Greater Iowa Credit Union has donated $5,000 to an organization that provides information and support services to international visitors to Iowa, including residents, visitors, immigrants and refugees.

The donation was presented to Dr. Judy Conlin, executive director of the Iowa Council for International Understanding (soon to be the Iowa International Center), to support the organization’s Iowa Global Connect strategic plan. Developed in 2008, the plan calls for the development of a three-phase program to provide information and support services to international visitors.

Greater Iowa staff was significantly involved in developing content on financial services that will be used on the council’s new Welcome to Iowa Web site, which will provide a wide-range of advice and information on a multitude of issues and services of interest to international visitors, including medical services, employment, transportation and the law, among many more.
Greater Iowa Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution with more than 28,000 members and assets of more than $279 million. Greater Iowa has six branches in Ames, Des Moines, West Des Moines and Denison. For more information, visit
