Groundbreaking planned for Indianola branch

    July 19, 2013

Greater Iowa Credit Union will break ground on its new Indianola branch at 4 p.m., Thursday, July 25, and the public is invited to attend. The ceremony will take place at 301 East Scenic Valley Avenue in the Summercrest Hills Development north of town and adjacent to Highway 65/69.

In addition to remarks from the credit union’s CEO and a representative from the volunteer board of directors, Denise Day, executive director of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce, and Emily Roush, the Chamber’s president, will also speak. The credit union will serve refreshments and two $100 gift cards will be drawn as door prizes.

Scott Zahnle, president and CEO of the Ames-based credit union, is looking forward to joining the Indianola community. “Indianola is growing and vibrant,” he said. “Our research has shown that a credit union and its financial cooperative model would be a welcome addition to town and the surrounding community. “We’re looking forward to becoming a good community citizen and actively participate and contribute where we can to the community’s quality of life.”
Within days following the ceremonial ground-breaking, construction crews will begin work in earnest on the new facility. The branch is designed by Clayco, a St. Louis firm that specializes in building financial institutions. The firm will work with local contractors and sub-contractors to complete the construction.

The Indianola branch will be the seventh retail branch for Greater Iowa. Anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Warren or adjacent counties can become a member.
