Children's Miracle Network Donation

Greater Iowa Credit Union presented a check for $13,098.83 to the Children’s Miracle Network. The donation was a collection of funds raised by Greater Iowa’s CMN Committee throughout 2016 and 2017.

Greater Iowa Credit Union’s CMN Committee is made up of thirteen employees. These employees help to organize different fundraisers throughout the year to benefit CMN. The fundraisers include bake sales in branches, offering parking to Iowa State Fair attendees at the East Des Moines branch that is located across the street from the fairgrounds and a holiday fundraiser called ‘Selfies with Santa’. The fundraising efforts were hugely successful, thanks in part of the support by GICU members and the communities that they serve.

Credit unions have a long-standing history of supporting CMN. As not-for-profits, credit unions are able to put more focus on their members and the communities that they serve. They are driven by the philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and their support of CMN is an example of one of the many ways they carry out this philosophy. The CMN hospitals in Iowa are: University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital and UnityPoint Health – St.Luke’s.
