Greater Iowa Credit Union to Sponsor Waukee’s Miracle League Field
Waukee, Iowa — The City of Waukee and the Waukee Betterment Foundation are proud to announce that Greater Iowa Credit Union will be the sole naming rights sponsor of Waukee’s Miracle League™ ball field which is slated to open in 2022. Greater Iowa Credit Union is donating $250,000 for the project.
“This $250,000 gift is significant and came at a critical time,” said Waukee Betterment Foundation President Jim Miller. “The Foundation is now able to leverage these funds to qualify for key grants. We cannot thank Greater Iowa Credit Union enough for its generosity in helping us build a much needed Miracle League field in Dallas County!”
“Inclusion is very important to Greater Iowa Credit Union, and serving our communities is at the heart of what we do each day,” said CEO of Greater Iowa Credit Union Scott Zahnle. “We are honored to partner with the City of Waukee and the Waukee Betterment Foundation to help ensure all community members have a chance to participate in recreational activities. We look forward to seeing smiles on the many faces of those enjoying a ballgame at the Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League Field.”
The ball field will be a huge draw within the future 66-acre Waukee Community Park & Sports Complex. The custom-designed, rubberized turf field will accommodate players of varying abilities and ages. The turf material prevents injuries and allows wheelchairs and assistive devices easy access. The field will be situated near an all-inclusive playground and an accessible fishing pier. The Foundation is working to raise a total of $3 million for these inclusive amenities.
The Waukee Community Park & Sports Complex will be located adjacent to the future Waukee Northwest High School north of 10th Street and Hickman Road in Waukee. The Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League Field is expected to serve at least 220 children and dozens of adults annually through accessible baseball leagues.
Credit unions have a long-standing history of supporting local community organizations. As not-for-profits, credit unions are able to put more focus on their members and the communities that they serve. They are driven by the philosophy of ‘people helping people’, and Greater Iowa Credit Union’s support of Waukee’s Miracle League Field is an example of one of the many ways this philosophy is lived out.
