On May 5th, Governor Reynolds and the Iowa Legislature recently came to a tax reform agreement that preserves the cooperative structure of credit unions.

Kathy Burns with signIowans made their voices heard throughout the legislative session, sending more than 40,000 emails and 2,500 handwritten letters to legislators in support of the cooperative credit union structure. In addition, nearly 800 credit union members visited the Capitol in March to rally for their financial choice.

Thanks to each and every GICU member who served as a persistent advocate on behalf of credit unions and protecting financial choice. Because of you, legislators heard our message and credit union members throughout the state will continue to save over $100 million annually through better rates and fewer fees.

GICU always keeps one mission top-of-mind: people helping people. We work hard to deliver on that each day. Thank you for your membership, and for being a part of something greater.

- Scott Zahnle, GICU President / CEO
